AARON ECKHART JOINS GERARD BUTLER IN "OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN"! TONI COLLETTE, STEVE CARELL, SAM ROCKWELL IN "THE WAY, WAY BACK"! "GAME OF THRONES" JOSEPH MAWLE IN STUNNING "THE PROTOTYPE" SF TRAILER

Now, I'm not even remotely interested in watching a White House set movie, but this one at least has a very interesting cast: according to "Variety" Aaron Eckhart has signed on to play in OLYMPUS HAS
FALLEN, an action film which has been described as DIE HARD in the White House.  The story revolves around a former Secret Service agent (played by superstar Gerard Butler) who tries to save the White House after terrorists attack the presidential residence. Aaron will have the "honour" to play the president of the United States of America. It is interesting that this Antoine Fuqua (KING ARTHUR) project has a rival film in WHITE HOUSE DOWN which will see Channing Tatum do pretty much the same thing of saving Mr. President who is in this case a black one - played by Jamie Fox.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
According to "Deadline" a bunch of actors have joined dramatic comedy THE WAY, WAY BACK: Rob Corddry, Amanda Peet and Maya Rudolp have joined Toni Collette, Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell in this comedy in which the story follows a teenage boy (Liam James), who forms a friendship with a local water-park manager (Sam Rockwell). In one summer's time, this new friend helps him come face to face with his abusive stepfather (Steve Carell) and repair his relationship with his mother (Toni Collette).

THE PROTOTYPE TRAILER
Now, here's one of the weirdest trailers I've seen in recent times - the first clip for a very chilling and suspenseful sf thriller THE PROTOTYPE coming from writer/director Andrew Will and THE BANDITO BROTHERS company who made ACT OF VALOUR film . Not much can be found on the film (it isn't even listed at IMDB) but judging from the trailer brilliant Joseph Mawle (great in GAME OF THRONES as Benjen Stark, but he left me speechless in his deeply touching and magnetic role in BBC's BIRDSONG next to Eddie Redmayne who gave one of the most haunting performances ever seen on TV in that mini series) plays
some kind of human robot whom government is chasing and trying to catch after he runs away from a shut down experiment project.  Neal McDonough (CAPTAIN AMERICA) can also be seen in the cast.

  1. Nice to see that Steve Carell is not afraid to take on the tough roles.

  2. DIE HARD in the White House.. sounds a bit like No Way Out. But Jamie Fox....? No he can't. a human robot on the run... call Will! :)

  3. Olympus Has Fallen and The Prototype both look good. The Way Way Back had me laughing at " his abusive stepfather (Steve Carell) ". Abuse isn't funny but just seeing Steve Carell makes me laugh so trying to imagine him as a serious abusive person is actually kind of funny.

  4. The prototype looks kind of weird, but may be something to watch. LOL now two movies copying a few episodes of 24 which in turn copied a Die Hard 2 and 4 plot in a way, so I guess it's all just copy cat land.

  6. Ok, Prototype is just freaky enough to catch my interest. I hope the trailer isn't showing ALL the good parts; some trailers do that ya know - show the only action scenes worth watching.

I don't know what I'd make of Jamie Fox in a serious role, and I don't really like him as a comedian. I saw a couple episodes of 24; edge of your seat intensity but kinda confusing with two to three screen shots showing almost all the time. Made me feel like I was watching two shows at a time. I'm not that talented a viewer. Die Hard 2 was pretty good though.

The music video was good; Marina is sensual, and the tempo of the music made me feel like doing a little close hipped dirty dancing. Even in the rain :)

Oh; I asked if you were a morning person because of your background. I thought the flowers were Morning Glories. I googled the flowers, and discovered I was wrong. I like them still, and they do have a morning appeal to them; making me think of early spring and warming, sunny days.

And no, I'm not a morning person. When I make my fortune with my novels - or win the Lotto - I will likely never be out of bed before 10a, even if I am awake :)

    1. it is a freaky trailer, isn't it? I like when they make an amusing film with almost no money and marketing.

Glad you liked Marina'ssong :) Me too has an urge to shake hips and bum to the rhythm :) although the song is sad actually, because the boy is with her only on a rebound :(

The flowers are kala lilies and green chrysanthemums :)

  7. Prototype is kind of odd, but I think I'd watch it. At least it's something different, instead of another eighties reboot. :))

  10. The Prototype looks interesting but I have no idea why the didn't make the robot's face more human.

  14. Not thrilled but may watch these on lazy Saturday afternoon. Superstar Gerard Butler? Wow, this guy has Miley Cyrus's voice, may be he could sing well. Prototype, cliche?

  15. I love Toni's work.

The first headline definitely seems like there are two look-alike movies. Sometimes I end up watching both, like when I saw Paranormal Activity and Paranormal Entity around the same time.

    1. for some reason, there have been a lot of lookalike movies in Hollywood recently.

  16. Yep, you're right, Prototype seems oddly interesting. I'm definitely interested in seeing it. The costume reminded me of something from a Tool video

I'm curious to see how Carrell plays the step dad. I liked how he did in Little Miss Sunshine. Everyone seems to forget that he can play a bit of dark comedy at times too...he also played in another movie, I can't recall the name off the top of my head but it was pretty dark (Forgetting Steve??)

I wonder which one of those films about the White House is being filmed in Louisiana right now?

    1. although it's futuristic it also has some retro vibe with the costume.
Carell played in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE? I don't remember him from that one, didn't Greg Kinnear play the father?

      Delete
    2. Yes, Carell played the little girl's slightly "off" uncle and he did such a great job. Kinnear was in it too. And the other serious movie I had to look up - Dan In Real Life is the name of it. I didn't like it as much as Little Miss Sunshine though.

  18. Okay, so my first response to Prototype is to scream, "Didn't you see Terminator? This comes out badly!" *cough* That said, it looks interesting and DOES stir some dystopian writing nerves (though I'd write from the PoV of those not buying into the machine superiority thing)

  22. Not sure I want to see Prototype and both White House films sound like remakes of Air Force One.

But, I am liking Toni Collette's project. It sounds like great drama. And of course, it stars Toni. A huge plus. :)
